HOUSTON, TX — Yesterday, Congresswoman Sylvia R. Garcia (TX-29) filed H.R. 7456 alongside Rep. Don Young (AK-At-Large), Rep. Anthony G. Brown (MD-04), Rep. Brian Babin (TX-36), and Rep. Steven Palazzo (MS-04). This bill would create a grant program for community and technical colleges offering exceptional training programs for maritime industry professions. The bill would also authorize $200 million nationwide to fund the grant program.

Today's vote comes days after the Trump administration filed a brief asking the Supreme Court to strike down the entirety of the ACA.

WASHINGTON, DC – Yesterday, Congresswoman Sylvia Garcia (TX-29) voted to pass H.R. 7120, the George Floyd Justice in Policing Act - bold, transformative legislation to reimagine the culture of policing in America with unprecedented reforms to curb police brutality, end racial profiling, eliminate qualified immunity for law enforcement, and build greater trust between law enforcement and our communities. The George Floyd Justice in Policing Act passed in a bipartisan 236-181 vote.
