HOUSTON, TX - Today, Congresswoman Sylvia Garcia (TX-29) announced that the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) has awarded nearly $2 million to BakerRipley for its Head Start Programs.
BakerRipley's Head Start and Early Head Start Programs provide critical educational support to low-income families and their children all across the Houston region.
"In the middle of the COVID-19 pandemic, many community organizations across the Houston region, like BakerRipley, have had to do more to help families most in need," said Congresswoman Garcia. "This is why I am pleased to announce that the Department of Health and Human Services has awarded BakerRipley with nearly $2 million, which will greatly benefit their Head Start programs. As students get ready to go back to school, these funds will help promote readiness for low-income children in the Houston region who continue to adapt to new modes of learning as a result of the pandemic," concluded Congresswoman Garcia.
