HOUSTON, TX – Today, Congresswoman Sylvia Garcia (TX-29), a member of the House Committee on Financial Services, issued the following statement in response to the United States Supreme Court's decision in Trump v. Deutsche Bank, AG, regarding Congress' power to subpoena the President's financial records.

"Today, in a 7-2 decision, the Supreme Court made it clear that the President is not ‘absolutely immune' from state criminal subpoenas - affirming what we have known all along - nadie está por encima de la ley. No one is above the law—not even the President of the United States."

"I am optimistic that we, the people, will eventually prevail because our Congressional subpoenas are legitimate and serve a valid legislative purpose, and any just and fair review will determine this to be the case."
