WASHINGTON, D.C. This week, Congresswoman Sylvia Garcia (D-TX-29) alongside Democratic Women's Caucus (DWC) Members Robin Kelly (D-IL-02), Delia Ramirez (D-IL-03), and DWC Policy Task Force Co-Chair Sydney Kamlager-Dove (D-CA-37), led 61 House Democrats in a letter to demand the urgent release and investigation of pregnant, postpartum, and nursing women currently detained by Immigration and Custody Enforcement (ICE) in contradiction to Federal regulations.

HOUSTON, T.X. — Yesterday, Congresswoman Sylvia Garcia (D-TX-29) and Congressman Al Green (D-TX-09) led the Texas democratic delegation in calling on Governor Greg Abbott to promptly schedule and hold the runoff election for Texas's 18th Congressional District. The letter calls for immediate action to restore full representation for nearly one million Houstonians who have been without a Member of Congress for more than eight months following the passing of Congressman Sylvester Turner in March 2025.

WASHINGTON, D.C. — Congresswoman Sylvia Garcia (D-TX-29) introduced the bipartisan Protect Older Job Applicants Act, which would restore critical protections for older Americans facing age discrimination in hiring. Introduction of this bill comes at the start of National Employ Older Workers Week, which begins on September 22, highlighting the need to strengthen protections and opportunities for older Americans in the workforce.

WASHINGTON, D.C. — Today, Congresswoman Sylvia Garcia’s Women Veterans Cancer Care Coordinator Act (H.R. 1860) passed unanimously in the U.S. House of Representatives. Congresswoman Garcia (D-TX-29) introduced the legislation in March, alongside Congresswoman Julia Brownley (D-CA-26), the Ranking Member of the House Veterans’ Affairs Subcommittee on Health, to strengthen care for women veterans facing breast and gynecologic cancers.
