WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, on the 95th birthday of legendary labor and civil rights activist Dolores Huerta, Congresswoman Sylvia R. Garcia (D-TX-29) reintroduced a resolution to designate April 10 as "Dolores Huerta Day" in her honor. The resolution celebrates Huerta's lifelong commitment to justice, equality, and the empowerment of working people, especially farm workers and women.  

HOUSTON, TX - Today, Congresswoman Sylvia R. Garcia (D-TX-29), a former judge, Houston City Controller, and longtime public servant, is reminding constituents that protecting democracy starts with showing up, and that includes answering the call of jury duty. 

In a new video, Congresswoman Garcia shares her experience reporting for jury service at the Harris County Jury Assembly Building and calls on constituents to treat jury service as more than a civic duty, but as a powerful act of democratic participation.

The caucus will act as a dedicated forum for Members of Congress to work toward the common goal of ending homelessness in this country.
