WASHINGTON, DC — Congresswoman Sylvia R. Garcia (D-TX-29) issued the following statement in response to Texas's decision to side with the Justice Department and end in-state tuition for undocumented students:

“For nearly a quarter century, Texas has offered in-state tuition to undocumented students because we knew they were Texans and American in every way but on paper. They grew up here, went to our schools, built careers, paid taxes, and asked for nothing more than a fair shot at college.

WASHINGTON, DC –  During today's House Financial Services Committee hearing on the state of the international financial system, Congresswoman Sylvia R. Garcia (D-TX-29) called out the Trump administration's failure to address poverty and its reckless tariff agenda that's threatening the U.S. and Houston economy. The hearing focused on the impact of tariffs, market instability, and deteriorating global economic relationships under Trump's leadership.

La resolución reconoce la importancia histórica de la Batalla de Puebla del1862 y el valor del pueblo mexicano en su lucha por la libertad, la independencia y la democracia.

The resolution recognizes the historical significance of the 1862 Battle of Puebla and the courage of the Mexican people in their fight for freedom, independence, and democracy.
