HOUSTON, TX – Today, Sylvia Garcia (TX-29) and Congresswomen Lizzie Fletcher (TX-07) donated 3,000 N95 masks to Legacy Community Health Southwest Clinic as a part of their commitment to ensuring Houston's frontline workers have the protective equipment they need to stay safe. The clinic serves an important role in a predominately Latino community, which has been disproportionately affected by the COVID-19 pandemic in Houston.

HOUSTON, TX – Today, Congresswoman Sylvia Garcia (TX-29) introduced The Elder Abuse Prevention Act, which would direct the Attorney General to establish the Elder Justice Initiative within the Department of Justice Criminal Division. The Elder Justice Initiative would be responsible for coordinating criminal enforcement and public engagement efforts to combat elder abuse, neglect, and financial fraud and scams that target elders.

HOUSTON, TX – Congresswoman Sylvia Garcia (TX-29) joined Legacy Community Health and Galena Park ISD in celebrating the opening of two school clinics. Legacy Community Health (Legacy), the largest federally qualified health center in Texas, has opened two clinics, one in each of two Galena Park I.S.D. campuses: North Shore Senior High School and Green Valley Elementary School.

Houston, TX – Today, Congresswoman Sylvia Garcia (TX-29) will be participating in a food distribution drive at the M.O. Campbell Educational Center as part of Speaker Nancy Pelosi's National Day of Action focused on the continued impact of COVID-19 on children across the country and the importance of passing the HEROES Act, which would provide relief to families, increase food assistance for children, and give much needed funding for education to local school districts.

Houston, TX – Today, Congresswoman Sylvia Garcia (TX-29) and Congressman Al Green (TX-09) will visit the North Houston USPS Distribution and Processing (D&P) Center located at 4600 Aldine Bender Road to conduct congressional oversight of the U.S. Postal Service. The goal of the visit is to assess whether or not changes have been made to the center that will impact USPS services, especially as it relates to the influx of mail-in-ballots leading up to the November election.
