Houston, Texas – Congresswoman Sylvia Garcia (TX-29) and 11 members of the Texas Delegation recently delivered a letter to Texas Governor Greg Abbott and Attorney General Ken Paxton demanding their anti-trans directive, issued to the Texas Department of Family and Protective Services (DFPS) on February 22, 2022, be rescinded. The letter also urges the withdrawal of Opinion No. KP-0401 – which was the anti-trans opinion issued by AG Paxton – that sparked the cruel attack.

Washington, D.C. - Today, Congresswoman Sylvia Garcia (TX-29) recognized National Public Schools Week which runs from February 21 until February 25. The American Rescue Plan Congresswoman Garcia helped pass secured $12.4 Billion for Texas K-12 schools to stay open safely and make up for lost learning time. Nationwide, the American Rescue Plan provided $130 billion for schools to stay open, and an additional $10 billion to help schools conduct COVID-19 testing for students and staff.

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, Congresswoman Sylvia R. Garcia (TX-29) announced the first round of investments in repairing Texas bridges coming in the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act. The funding announced this year is part of a larger 5-year grant, where Texas is expected to receive $537 million for repairs. This year, $107.4 million will be coming to Texas to repair bridges across the state, including over 818 Texas bridges found to be in poor condition.
