CONGRESSWOMAN SYLVIA GARCIA APPOINTED TO THE POWERFUL HOUSE ARMED SERVICES COMMITTEE

Washington D.C. – Today, Congresswoman Sylvia Garcia (TX-29) announced she has been appointed to the powerful House Armed Services Committee following a vote by the full Democratic Caucus.

"I'm honored to be appointed as a member of the House Armed Services Committee. Texas and the Houston area both have deep military ties and a strong servicemember presence -- I look forward to advocating for all the personnel who are defending our nation," said Congresswoman Garcia. "Ensuring our military has the proper resources needed to serve our country is critical."

Congresswoman Sylvia R. Garcia was elected to the U.S. House of Representatives in November 2018, becoming the first Latina ever to represent the Texas 29th Congressional District. She serves on both the House Judiciary and Financial Services Committees.
