Houston, Texas – Today, Congresswoman Sylvia Garcia, Congressmen Al Green, and City of Houston Mayor Sylvester Turner announced a generous grant of $20,960,000 as part of the Rebuilding American Infrastructure with Sustainability and Equity grant program (RAISE). These funds, made possible by President Biden's Bipartisan Infrastructure Law and the Department of Transportation, will encourage large investments in Houston's transit, road, rail, and port projects.

Washington, D.C. – Today, Congresswoman Sylvia Garcia (TX-29) introduced the Construction Injury Prevention Act (CIPA) to protect construction workers from injuries by requiring employers to offer at least one 15-minute paid rest break every four hours of work. CIPA also requires the employer to notify the employee of their right to their paid rest breaks at the start of employment.

Martinez was a prominent community leader who worked as a Harris County nurse for 30 years and 5 years as Deputy Sheriff, served the Houston area through countless organizations and advocacy groups, and was a U.S. Army veteran.

Houston, Texas – Today, Congresswoman Sylvia Garcia announced that the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) will award $3,600,000 from President Biden's Bipartisan Infrastructure Law funding to Houston's William P. Hobby Airport. The airport will use the funds to improve ADA access, enhance energy efficiency, and address capacity needs by installing new gates and baggage systems.
