Washington D.C. – Today, Congresswoman Sylvia Garcia (TX-29) introduced the Veterans' Cancer Care Coordinator Act of 2022 to advance cancer healthcare for female veterans. This bill directs the Secretary of Veterans Affairs to establish a pilot program for gynecological cancer care coordination, creates the position of a cancer care coordinator in the Women's Veteran Program, and requires Veteran Affairs (VA) to record and report on the success of the program to Congress.

Washington, D.C. – Today, Congresswoman Sylvia Garcia (TX-29) announced the introduction of the Multilingual Financial Literacy Act – a bill that directs the Financial Literacy Education Commission (FLEC) to carry out a study on the impact of language barriers on financial health. This bill has massive national implications as the United States is home to more than 380 spoken languages, and nearly nine percent of individuals speak English "less than very well."

Houston, Texas – Today, Congresswoman Sylvia Garcia, Congressmen Al Green, and City of Houston Mayor Sylvester Turner announced a generous grant of $20,960,000 as part of the Rebuilding American Infrastructure with Sustainability and Equity grant program (RAISE). These funds, made possible by President Biden's Bipartisan Infrastructure Law and the Department of Transportation, will encourage large investments in Houston's transit, road, rail, and port projects.
