Washington, D.C.Congresswoman Sylvia Garcia (TX-29) recently announced $25,091,359 in federal funds for the Harris County Public Health and $24,771,189 for the Houston Health Department. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) was the granting agency and was funded in part by President Biden's American Rescue Plan (ARP) – which Congresswoman Garcia strongly supported in Congress.

Washington, D.C. – Today, Congresswoman Sylvia Garcia (TX-29) introduced the No Kids in Cuffs Resolution to encourage local and State governments to prohibit the physical restraining of elementary school-age children. Sadly, students are being restrained by using handcuffs, zip ties, or other restraints as a form of disciplinary measure.

This bill would expand the official definition of "technical assistance" within the Community Development Financial Institution (CDFI) Fund to include outreach materials in additional languages other than English. Washington D.C. – Today, Congresswoman Sylvia Garcia (TX-29) introduced the Veterans' Cancer Care Coordinator Act of 2022 to advance cancer healthcare for female veterans. This bill directs the Secretary of Veterans Affairs to establish a pilot program for gynecological cancer care coordination, creates the position of a cancer care coordinator in the Women's Veteran Program, and requires Veteran Affairs (VA) to record and report on the success of the program to Congress.
