Houston, TX - Congresswoman Sylvia Garcia (TX-29) announced that William P. Hobby Airport was awarded nearly $50.9 million under the Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security (CARES) Act. The CARES Act was signed into law on March 27, 2020, and it includes $10 billion in emergency funds to be awarded as economic relief to save our nation's airports and their employees.

HOUSTON, TX - Congresswoman Sylvia Garcia (TX-29) joined Congressmen Jesús "Chuy' García (IL-04), Danny Davis (IL-07), and 21 other Members of Congress in sending a letter to the Small Business Administration (SBA) and the U.S. Department of the Treasury urging them to issue final guidance for the Paycheck Protection Program (PPP) and to conduct proactive outreach in underserved and minority communities, which cannot be left behind during the country's recovery efforts.

HOUSTON, TX - Today, Congresswoman Sylvia Garcia (TX-29) led an effort with the entire Texas Democratic delegation urging Governor Greg Abbott and Secretary of State Ruth Hughs to implement a no-excuse vote-by-mail program for all elections in the state of Texas until the end of this year. The letter also calls for preserving in-person voting opportunities for those who need them, as long as in-person voting sites are structured in a way that will allow them to respond to any public health concerns.
