HOUSTON, TX – Congresswoman Sylvia Garcia (TX-29), alongside Congresswoman Lizzie Fletcher (TX-07) and Congressman Al Green (TX-09), led an effort calling on Governor Greg Abbott to ensure that the Texas Workforce Commission (TWC) is well equipped to quickly process and distribute unemployment insurance benefits to Texans that have been affected by this crisis and are in need of such financial assistance.

HOUSTON, TX - Today, Congresswoman Sylvia Garcia (TX-29) filed legislation that would provide minority-owned businesses $3 billion in grants through the Minority Business Development Agency (MBDA). It was included as a provision in The Take Responsibility for Workers and Families Act, H.R. 6379, the coronavirus economic stimulus package unveiled earlier today by Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi. This provision would support the MBDA in fully implementing the Initiative to Build Growth Equity Funds for minority-owned businesses.

HOUSTON, TX – On the 10th anniversary of the Affordable Care Act (ACA), Congresswoman Sylvia Garcia (TX-29) joined Congresswoman Jan Schakowsky (IL-09) and 125 of her House Democratic colleagues in a letter demanding for the Trump Administration to end its Texas v.
