HOUSTON, TX - Today, Congresswoman Sylvia Garcia (TX-29) led an effort with the entire Texas Democratic delegation urging Governor Greg Abbott and Secretary of State Ruth Hughs to implement a no-excuse vote-by-mail program for all elections in the state of Texas until the end of this year. The letter also calls for preserving in-person voting opportunities for those who need them, as long as in-person voting sites are structured in a way that will allow them to respond to any public health concerns.

HOUSTON, TX - Today, Congresswoman Sylvia Garcia (TX-29) filed legislation that would provide minority-owned businesses $3 billion in grants through the Minority Business Development Agency (MBDA). It was included as a provision in The Take Responsibility for Workers and Families Act, H.R. 6379, the coronavirus economic stimulus package unveiled earlier today by Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi. This provision would support the MBDA in fully implementing the Initiative to Build Growth Equity Funds for minority-owned businesses.

U.S. lawsuit, which would strike down the entirety of the ACA as well as pre-existing condition protections for 130 million Americans, including nearly 4.8 million Texans, amid the coronavirus pandemic.
