Ley Family YMCA. The CDC recommends wearing a face mask in public in an effort to further reduce the spread of the coronavirus, and Harris County is also currently under a Face Mask order.

WASHINGTON, DC — Today, 105 House Democrats, led by Rep. Sylvia Garcia (TX-29), House Small Business Subcommittee on Oversight Chair Rep. Judy Chu (CA-27), and Rep. Alan Lowenthal (CA-47), sent a letter to House Democratic and Republican leadership urging that labor unions be made eligible to access to recovery funds made possible under the CARES Act, including the Paycheck Protection Program.

Houston, TXCongresswoman Sylvia Garcia (TX-29) is proud to be joining Mayor Sylvester Turner, Councilman Robert Gallegos, and other Houston elected officials today to announce the launch of a new UMMC Coronavirus drive-thru testing site in the 29th Congressional District. The United States has more than 965,000 reported cases and more than 55,000 deaths, which includes 5,729 cases and more than 90 Coronavirus-related deaths in Harris County.

Houston, TX - Congresswoman Sylvia Garcia (TX-29) announced that three college systems in the 29th Congressional District will receive funding under the Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security (CARES) Act. The CARES Act was signed into law on March 27, 2020, and will allocate more than $307 million for the Governor's Fund Component of the Education Stabilization Fund in Texas. In addition to this statewide funding, individual institutions of higher education will receive funding from the Higher Education Emergency Relief Fund (HEERF).

Houston, TX - Congresswoman Sylvia Garcia (TX-29) announced that William P. Hobby Airport was awarded nearly $50.9 million under the Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security (CARES) Act. The CARES Act was signed into law on March 27, 2020, and it includes $10 billion in emergency funds to be awarded as economic relief to save our nation's airports and their employees.
