WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, Congresswoman Sylvia Garcia joined more than 230 lawmakers to pass H.R. 1, the For The People Act, the largest elections and ethics overhaul in U.S. history.

Homestead is the largest facility for unaccompanied immigrant children in the country run by a for-profit corporation and is rapidly expanding.

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, Congresswoman Sylvia Garcia joined Congressman Joaquin Castro and more than 220 other lawmakers from both sides of the aisle in introducing the National Emergencies Act (NEA), a resolution to terminate the Trump Administration's National Emergency Declaration. The emergency declaration signed by President Trump last week seeks to divert over $3 billion from military resources to build a proposed border wall on the southwestern border, effectively circumventing Congress to secure money that lawmakers have refused to give him.

WASHINGTON – Congresswoman Sylvia R. Garcia (TX-29) is proud to announce Devani Gonzalez of Galena Park, Texas will be her guest for the 2019 State of the Union address on February 5. Devani is a Substitute Teacher who came to the United States when she was 7 years old. Before graduating from San Jacinto Community College with an Associate of Applied Science in Criminal Justice in 2017, she was awarded with the 2017 Outstanding Criminal Justice Student Award. After graduation she was a recruit with the Community Volunteer Fire Department.
