HOUSTON — Congresswoman Sylvia Garcia was called to jury duty today and released this statement:
"Public service isn't just about running for office or working to help run the government. Its purest forms are often found in our civic duties, such as voting, paying taxes, and yes, even jury duty," said Congresswoman Garcia. "I am proud to be summoned to jury selection with a panel of my peers today and be a part of a democratic system that calls its citizens to help enforce the law. It's a further reminder of the honor and privilege it is to be an American."

Devani is a Substitute Teacher who came to the United States when she was 7 years old. Before graduating from San Jacinto Community College with an Associate of Applied Science in Criminal Justice in 2017, she was awarded with the 2017 Outstanding Criminal Justice Student Award. After graduation she was a recruit with the Community Volunteer Fire Department.
