WASHINGTON, DC — Congresswoman Sylvia R. Garcia (TX-29) filed legislation to rename the post office located at 5302 Galveston Road in Houston, Texas, in honor of Houston-native and former Fort Hood soldier Vanessa Guillén. Congresswoman Garcia previously filed the legislation last Congress (H.R. 8453).
The freshman class will be sworn in on January 3rd, 2021 when the First Session of the 117th United States Congress convenes.

Washington, D.C. — Today, Representatives Jason Crow (D-CO) joined by Sylvia Garcia (D-TX) and Veronica Escobar (D-TX) introduced the End Transfers of Detained Immigrants Act, legislation which would immediately prevent Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) from transferring immigrant detainees between ICE facilities or to federal, state, and local prisons during the Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic.
