Grants from the U.S. Department of Transportation’s Federal Highway Administration will support workers and families in the Greater Houston area

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, Congresswoman Sylia Garcia (TX-29) announced that Harris County, Texas, will receive over $9.6 million in federal funding through the Promoting Resilient Operations for Transformative, Efficient, and Cost-Saving Transportation (PROTECT) Discretionary Grant Program. These funds were made available through the Inflation Reduction Act's Greenhouse Gas Reduction Fund, which Congresswoman Garcia proudly voted for in August 2022.

In 2020, U.S. Army Specialist Vanessa Guillén was brutally murdered by another soldier. Her tragic passing struck grief into our community and ignited a national movement across the nation that demanded military justice reform.

This legislation includes $11,310,783 in Community Project Funding that she secured for the Texas 29th Congressional District.
