Washington, D.C. – Today, Congresswoman Sylvia Garcia (TX-29) and Senator Laphonza Butler (D-CA) introduced the Improving Language Access in Mortgage Servicing Act. This bill requires the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (CFPB) to translate mortgage documents from English into the eight most common languages spoken within three years, including an additional top four languages spoken for a total of 12 languages.

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, Congresswoman Sylia Garcia (TX-29) announced that Harris County, Texas, will receive over $9.6 million in federal funding through the Promoting Resilient Operations for Transformative, Efficient, and Cost-Saving Transportation (PROTECT) Discretionary Grant Program. These funds were made available through the Inflation Reduction Act's Greenhouse Gas Reduction Fund, which Congresswoman Garcia proudly voted for in August 2022.

In 2020, U.S. Army Specialist Vanessa Guillén was brutally murdered by another soldier.
