In light of this, the Congresswoman and her colleagues are calling for a special prosecutor to be appointed to investigate the Attorney General's actions, a blatant attempt to limit the freedom of assembly enshrined in the Constitution.

"On the heels of a House Judiciary Committee hearing on protecting the right to vote during COVID-19, the 5th Circuit Court of Appeals has issued a stay on a federal court's decision that allowed for the expansion of vote-by-mail in Texas. I strongly disagree with this misguided decision, which will force Texas voters to choose between their health and voting.

HOUSTON, TX — Congresswoman Sylvia R. Garcia (TX-29) released a statement expressing her opposition to the Texas Education Agency (TEA)'s intention to follow Secretary DeVos' recent guidance about the CARES Act funding for private schools.
