WASHINGTON, DCCongresswoman Sylvia R. Garcia (TX-29) released a statement expressing her opposition to President Donald Trump's FY2021 Budget.

Statement from Congresswoman Garcia:

"The President's FY2021 Budget has shown once again that he is not interested in protecting the economic interests and health of the vast majority of Americans. His demand for Congress to slash funding for a wide array of critical departments and life-saving programs is heartless and cruel," said Congresswoman Garcia.

"In particular, through significant funding cuts to the Department of Education, to economic security programs like Medicare and Medicaid, and to FEMA federal assistance grants, the President has expressed his lack of concern for these valuable and enriching programs, which impact so many of my constituents," she added.

Congresswoman Garcia concluded that, "This budget is about funding cuts, which intend to worsen the socio-economic conditions of middle and working class- American families, while making the rich even richer."
