Rep. Sylvia Garcia Hosted Immigration Forum in Collaboration with Several Community Organizations

HOUSTON, TX — Congresswoman Sylvia Garcia hosted an Immigration Forum today, August 21st, 2019, where she updated constituents on her work in Washington, DC advocating for Latino and immigrant communities in the Texas 29th Congressional District. She spoke about the different pieces of legislation she has introduced or voted on to reform the immigration system, protect DREAMers and TPS and DED recipients, increase accountability from immigration detention facilities, and shield immigrant communities from the Trump Administration's anti-immigrant policies. She also answered constituent questions and provided information about how her office can be of service to the community with immigration related questions.

Several community organizations were also in attendance. Representatives from each organization touched upon recent developments relating to Trump's immigration policies and offered additional information on how they can be helpful to families that need help with immigration related cases.
