REP. SYLVIA GARCIA CONDEMNS THE TRUMP ADMINISTRATION FOR RAIDING MILITARY FUNDS FOR THE BORDER WALL

WASHINGTON, DC — Congresswoman Sylvia Garcia (TX-29) condemns the Administration's reckless and unlawful plan to transfer $3.8 billion from important defense accounts for border wall construction.For the second year in a row, Trump will raid the Department of Defense's resources for money for the U.S.-Mexico border wall. Congresswoman Garcia and several lawmakers have fiercely opposed such transfers and will continue to denounce this Administration's thoughtless actions.

"I am not surprised that the President has taken money from the Department of Defense to pay for his racist wall along the southern border, across precious lands and habitats. I have voted against and will continue to vote against any bill that doesn't block the President from redirecting funds appropriated by Congress to pay for his wall. We need to build bridges, not walls. The President has circumvented Congressional approval for this action. My Democratic colleagues and I will not stand down in the face of his continued abuse of power and disregard for constitutional checks and balances," said Congresswoman Garcia.
