Rep. Sylvia Garcia Announces the Port of Houston Authority Received a $180,000 Grant from the U.S. Department of Transportation

WASHINGTON, DC — Congresswoman Sylvia Garcia (TX-29) announces the U.S. Department of Transportation has awarded $180,000 to the Port of Houston Authority to develop an operational plan for effectively scaling, equipping, and integrating operations of Container on Barge (COB) handling facilities. This will support the Port of Houston Authority with ongoing efforts to expand COB services throughout the Houston Gateway and Gulf Coast region and to better connect with global markets.

Statement from Congresswoman Sylvia Garcia:

"The Port of Houston Authority is a major economic driver for the city of Houston and Harris County and this grant will support its efforts to continue expanding its Container on Barge operational capabilities," said Congresswoman Garcia. "This grant will further connect global markets with the Houston area and help drive economic growth in the area."
