Houston, TX – Today, Congresswoman Sylvia Garcia (TX-29) will be participating in a food distribution drive at the M.O. Campbell Educational Center as part of Speaker Nancy Pelosi's National Day of Action focused on the continued impact of COVID-19 on children across the country and the importance of passing the HEROES Act, which would provide relief to families, increase food assistance for children, and give much needed funding for education to local school districts. Congresswoman Garcia will help distribute food to families, and will thereafter be holding a press availability focused on these critical issues and will answer questions about the latest information on the COVID-19 negotiations between the House and the Senate.

Congresswoman Garcia will be joined by Dr. LaTonya Goffney, Aldine ISD Superintendent, Candis Houston, Aldine AFT President, and Elizabeth Aguilar, Marshall Middle School PTO President, and a representative from BakerRipley. The House of Representatives passed the Heroes Act nearly four months ago, and as the country continues to combat the ongoing pandemic, it is more important than ever for the Senate GOP to finally pass this critical bill for the good of children and their families in the Houston region and across America.
