Washington, D.C. - Today, Congresswoman Sylvia Garcia (TX-29) announced a massive $60,000,000+ investmentthis year for Texas' electric vehicle (EV) charging infrastructure. The Bipartisan Infrastructure Law that Congresswoman Garcia helped pass, secured the largest set of funds received by any state.
"In order to accelerate consumer transition to EV vehicles, we must ensure charging stations are readily available, especially in underserved communities," said Congresswoman Garcia. "This significant investment will strengthen Texas' EV infrastructure by delivering more public EV charging stations. Not only will this bring huge environmental benefits, but it will also create good-paying jobs."
Texas will receive more than $400 million total over the next five years for the expansion of EV charging. Currently, there are nearly 2,200 public access EV charging stations across the state of Texas.
