Houston, TexasCongresswoman Sylvia Garcia (TX-29) announces nearly $30,200,000+ in Community Development Block Grant-Disaster Recovery (CDBG-DR) funds for the City of Houston allocated by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD). These funds are directly associated with the drastic winter storm Southeast Houston suffered through in 2021.

"The $30,200,000+ allocated to the City of Houston will provide much-needed disaster relief for our region," said Congresswoman Sylvia Garcia. "Unlike other disaster recovery dollars, this is a direct allocation to the City of Houston. Just like these dollars, I will continue working to secure additional funding directly to our local governments. Ensuring all residents have equitable access to disaster recovery funds is one of my greatest priorities."

These funds will be used for natural disaster recovery efforts, including climate disasters, with a focus on low- and moderate-income communities. The funds are specified to be used for: disaster relief, long-term recovery, restoration of infrastructure and housing, economic revitalization, and mitigation in the most impacted and distressed areas.
