WASHINGTON, DC —Congresswoman Sylvia Garcia (TX-29) issued the following statement in celebration of Hispanic Heritage Month.

"Hispanic Heritage Month is time to share the stories of Latinos and immigrants across the country. We celebrate the important contributions we have made to the United States. We are lawyers, entrepreneurs, teachers, doctors, and even members of Congress."

"While we celebrate our comunidad, we must also recommit ourselves to getting involved in the political process. We must make our voices heard by registering to vote and getting out to the polls. This is how we build Latino politico power and how we can fight back against this President's racist and anti-immigrant policies."

"This is how we can honor our comunidad this Hispanic Heritage Month, by celebrating our comunidad and also reflecting on how it has been hurt by this administration. We must continue fighting to ensure all Latino and immigrant comunidades are treated with dignity and respect.

"Mi gente, register to vote, get involved, and have a happy Hispanic Heritage Month."
