WASHINGTON, DC – Today, Congresswoman Sylvia Garcia (TX-29) champions a $1.2 Billion federal grant to theHouston Region to develop Hydrogen Hubs.
"Establishing a Hydrogen Hub in the Houston region will do more than diversify our energy portfolio; it will ignite a wave of transformation. We’re on the brink of an energy revolution that promises to create good-paying union jobs, stimulate economic opportunities, and elevate our status as the foremost energy innovators. Houston is the energy capital of the world, and it will continue to grow as the world's energy capital,” said Congresswoman Sylva Garcia.
The Regional Clean Hydrogen Hubs program, backed by an allocation of up to $7 billion, is set to spearhead the establishment of six to ten regional clean hydrogen hubs nationwide. This program is part of the sweeping $8 billion hydrogen hub initiative, made possible through the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law. These hubs are poised to be the cornerstone of a clean energy transition, benefiting communities from coast to coast, offering many high-paying jobs, and enhancing the nation's energy security.
“This is acoalition of private and public partners dedicated to clean energy and clean jobs. The road ahead is filled with promise and possibility, and I will continue to work hard for cleaner and secure energy solutions,” concluded Congresswoman Sylvia Garcia.
