Washington, D.C. – Today, Congresswoman Sylvia Garcia (D-TX-29) voted in support of the consolidated appropriations package to fully fund significant parts of the federal government. This legislation includes $11,310,783in Community Project Funding that she secured for the Texas 29th Congressional District. These funds will help address some of the most pressing needs in the greater Houston region.
“I am incredibly proud to have voted for this appropriations funding package that will fully fund significant parts of the federal government, which includes $11,310,783 in Community Project Funding that I secured for communities across the Texas 29th Congressional District,” said Congresswoman Sylvia Garcia. “This funding will support critical community projects across the district that will help transform the lives of my constituents. When we support innovative approaches to policing, we build a force for good. When we rebuild YMCAs, public park trails, and community centers, we provide a safe place for families and kids to thrive. When we invest in science, we protect Mother Earth and reimagine how we move. When we put people over politics, we build a better tomorrow for all. Delivering results for my community is why I came to Congress, and I cannot wait to see the impact these funds will have on the lives of our seniors, kids, and working families."

House Democrats were successful in removing harmful, extreme House Republican policies from these bills that attempted to make abortion care illegal everywhere, cut food assistance programs such as SNAP and WIC, slash efforts to fight climate change, and threaten our national security. Instead, these final bipartisan funding bills for Fiscal Year 2024 will help keep our communities safe, fight inflation, and boost our economy. Taken together, the funding for Texas 29th Congressional Districtand the funding increases for critical government programs will continue to grow our local economy and support our communities.
This legislation is expected to be signed into law by President Biden later this week. A detailed summary of the bill is available HERE.
