HOUSTON, TX - Today, Congresswoman Sylvia Garcia (TX-29) participated in a press conference with local elected and community leaders on the importance of the Latino community taking advantage of free COVID-19 testing sites across the Houston region, including the El Salvador Consulate of Houston.

"We have all been watching the news, and unfortunately the number of COVID-19 cases are continuing to spike significantly, especially in the Latino community of the Houston region," said Congresswoman Garcia. "This is why we must all be sounding the alarm. Every elected official and community leader in the region needs to commit to promoting testing and other public health best practices such as wearing a face mask and washing your hands in both English and Spanish. And, as we continue opening testing sites across the region, we must ensure that more of these sites are in places the Latino community feels safe going to such as the El Salvador Consulate of Houston. This is critically important to making sure our community takes advantage of free COVID-19 testing," concluded Congresswoman Garcia.
