Congresswoman Sylvia Garcia Announces $8,807,759 Award for Houston Housing Authority in Public Housing Repair Funding

Grants from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development will support families for housing improvements
WASHINGTON, D.C. – Congresswoman Sylvia Garcia (TX-29) announced today that $8,807,759 will be invested in the Houston Housing Authority. These funds were made available as part of HUD’s Capital Fund Program to invest in public housing developments, financing, modernization, and improvement. These funds will help deliver safe, sustainable, and affordable housing that will provide a sense of security and stability for all families.
“I’m happy to share that the Houston Housing Authority will receive over $8.8 million in federal funding for housing development, modernization, and to improve energy efficiency. This award will provide resources to members of the Houston community to rebuild, update, and sustain their homes. For many families, homeownership is the first step toward establishing long-term economic security and stability. Modernizing and improving homes strengthens the foundation of our community and uplifts future generations to come,” SaidCongresswoman Sylvia Garcia.
This grant will provide Houston with the necessary funds to continue growing and offering much needed financial support that will fuel development in our communities and help our families thrive. It will also pave the way for the completion of large-scale improvements in housing developments and energy-efficient upgrades to heating and water systems.
