WASHINGTON, DCToday, Congresswoman Sylvia Garcia (TX-29) and Senator Richard Blumenthal Blumenthal (D-CT) issued the following joint statement on the re-introduction of the Wear Your Mask Act in the House.

Representative Garcia has re-introduced legislation in the House of Representatives to protect federal employees from the Coronavirus. The Wear Your Mask Act would require individuals in any federally owned, leased or operated facilities or buildings to wear a face mask. All facilities in this category would have to supply face masks at all public entrances to those who do not have one. Garcia and Blumenthal introduced this bicameral legislation in the 116th Congress.

Congresswoman Garcia and Senator Blumenthal applaud President-elect Joe Biden for announcing the requirement for masks to be worn in federal buildings as one of his first moves in office. "We know wearing a mask works. We can prevent the spread of this virus and protect each other from getting sick with one simple requirement to wear a mask. As the incoming Biden administration addresses the pandemic, we are proud to see that they are implementing this policy that will undoubtedly save countless lives and set us on the path towards recovery."
