Houston, TX – Today, Congresswoman Sylvia Garcia (TX-29) and Congressman Al Green (TX-09) will visit the North Houston USPS Distribution and Processing (D&P) Center located at 4600 Aldine Bender Road to conduct congressional oversight of the U.S. Postal Service. The goal of the visit is to assess whether or not changes have been made to the center that will impact USPS services, especially as it relates to the influx of mail-in-ballots leading up to the November election. Postmaster General DeJoy is on the record stating no additional changes will be made prior to the election; however, Congresswoman Garcia and Congressman Green want to ensure standard operating procedures have been restored, including letter sorting machines and blue drop boxes that were removed as part of DeJoy's operational changes. This facility is the largest USPS D&P Center in the country; thus, changes made to this center can have far-reaching impacts on the flow of mail in Houston and across the country.
