HOUSTON, TX – Congresswoman Sylvia Garcia (TX-29), alongside Congresswoman Lizzie Fletcher (TX-07) and Congressman Al Green (TX-09), led an effort calling on Governor Greg Abbott to ensure that the Texas Workforce Commission (TWC) is well equipped to quickly process and distribute unemployment insurance benefits to Texans that have been affected by this crisis and are in need of such financial assistance.
"We all know these are incredibly difficult times for all Texans and stand ready to assist Governor Abbott and the State of Texas in ensuring that every person that has been impacted by this public health crisis gets the help he or she needs," the members stated. "We urge the Governor to use every tool and resource available to him so that the Texas Workforce Commission can handle the significant increase in unemployment insurance applications and get people the help they desperately need as quickly as possible. We are all Texas strong and together we will help everyone get through this crisis," the members concluded.
