HOUSTON, TX - Today, Congresswoman Sylvia Garcia (TX-29) made the following statement in response to the Stay at Home Order issued by Harris County Judge Lina Hidalgo and Houston Mayor Sylvester Turner:
"Thank you Harris County Judge Lina Hidalgo and Mayor Sylvester Turner for taking bold action that will save lives. It will take a regional response with Galveston and Fort Bend counties to stop the further spread of this virus and support all of the workers on the front lines.
I will continue to work with both the County Judge and the Mayor so that we can beat this virus. I will do everything possible in Congress to ensure that our region secures the medical supplies and tests it needs and receives financial assistance for the working families and small businesses being hit the hardest.
Governor Abbott must join Harris, Galveston, Fort Bend, and Montgomery counties in issuing a statewide stay at home order. We are all Texas strong at this moment and together we will overcome this public health threat."
