The House Wednesday passed H.R. 5911, the Fair Hiring in Banking Act, by a 329-88 vote. The bill, originally introduced by Senator Joe Manchin, D-W.Va. and led in the House by Rep. Joyce Beatty, D-OH., would replace a lifetime ban for those with disqualifying convictions to work in the banking sector and create an exception for criminal acts committed before the age of 21.

The House Judiciary Committee voted 24-12 to advance a bill that would remove immigration courts from the U.S. Department of Justice and make them independent of the executive branch.

Shortly after midnight on Wednesday night, the committee voted along party lines to send the Real Courts, Rule of Law Act of 2022 to the full U.S. House of Representatives for consideration.

Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) announced that the House Democratic Steering & Policy Committee has recommended that Rep. Marcy Kaptur (D-Ohio) serve on the Agriculture Committee and Rep. Sylvia Garcia (D-Texas) join Armed Services. Both still need to get approval from the full Democratic Caucus.

SPC. Vanessa Guillen was last seen on April 22, 2020, while she was a private stationed at Fort Hood.

A bill to rename a southeast Houston post office after slain U.S. Army Spc. Vanessa Guillén passed in the U.S. House of Representatives on Wednesday.

The measure introduced by Guillén's representative, Democrat Sylvia Garcia, in January, was debated on the House floor Tuesday and was approved in a vote on Wednesday afternoon, according to Garcia's office.
