FORT HOOD, Texas —Rep. Sylvia Garcia announced Wednesday the passing of bill H.R. 224, a bill that will rename a Houston post office after the late Vanessa Guillen.

SPC. Vanessa Guillen was last seen on April 22, 2020, while she was a private stationed at Fort Hood.

The measure introduced by Guillén's representative, Democrat Sylvia Garcia, in January, was debated on the House floor Tuesday and was approved in a vote on Wednesday afternoon, according to Garcia's office.

HOUSTON, Texas (KTRK) -- A bill aimed at keeping the memory alive of Army Spc. Vanessa Guillén could soon pass as it would name a post office after the murdered soldier.

If H.R. 224 moves forward, it would rename the post office at 5302 Galveston Road as the Vanessa Guillen Post Office Building.
