EL PASO, Texas (KFOX14/CBS4) — El Paso Representative Veronica Escobar sent a letter to President Biden urging him to address Texas Gov. Greg Abbott's commercial vehicle inspection policy at the border.
The letter, which was co-signed by the entire Texas Democratic Congressional Delegation, comes on the heels of Governor Abbott's recent directive to increase inspections of commercial vehicles at land ports of entry.

Busing migrants from Texas to the nation's capital is just one of the measures Abbott put in place in response to the Biden administration ending the Trump-era Title 42, a policy which limits the number of asylum seekers permitted into the country in order to curb the spread of COVID-19. That program is scheduled to end in May.
When the Biden administration ends the public health order known as Title 42 next month, it will resume processing asylum claims at the border. The Trump-era rule allows border officials to send migrants back to their home countries because of the pandemic.
Baylor College of Medicine on Wednesday was awarded $1.1 million from the federal government to open a new long-COVID clinic in the Houston area.
Baylor already operates a Post COVID Care Clinic at the McNair campus in the Texas Medical Center. The funds will help the medical school expand services to uninsured patients at Harris Health System's Strawberry Clinic, located in East Harris County.
