WASHINGTON — Texas lawmakers were divided largely along party lines Tuesday over a leaked Supreme Court opinion striking down the landmark Roe vs. Wade decision that established a woman's legal right to an abortion.

Democrats have opened an ideological rift on Title 42 and the issue of immigration ahead of the upcoming midterms this week. Members of the Congressional Hispanic Caucus met with President Biden Monday to urge him to follow through on the CDC's announced May 23deadline to lift Title 42.

DENTON — U.S. Congresswoman Sylvia R. Garcia today announced a $50,000 gift to Texas Woman's University to launch a scholarship program aimed at supporting students who aspire to careers in public service and come from traditionally underrepresented groups in federal, state and local politics.

The gift establishes an endowment in the congresswoman's name that will generate scholarships in perpetuity for Texas Woman's undergraduate students, and commemorates the 50^th anniversary of receiving her undergraduate degree at the university.

AUSTIN, Texas — Texas is already crowdfunding a border wall between the state and Mexico, and now it's requesting donations as migrants are bused to Washington, D.C.

Gov. Greg Abbott announced the busing plan in response to the Biden administration ending the Trump-era Title 42 border policy. The public health policy—which limits asylum at the border in order to curb the spread if COVID-19—is slated to end May 23. It's expected that will increase border crossings. Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton has sued to block the policy's rescission.

U.S. representative for Texas, Sylvia R. Garcia, announced she has COVID-19 on Wednesday.

Rep. Garcia released this statement Wednesday:

"This morning I tested positive for COVID-19. Fortunately, I'm fully vaccinated and boosted -- so my symptoms are mild. I'll follow CDC guidelines and I expect a full recovery. I'll be quarantining and focusing on getting healthy. I will work virtually, and my office will remain open and ready to serve you!"

A Cayman Islands government press release confirmed that the Premier and Minister for Sustainability and Climate Resiliency, Wayne Panton, attended the Carribbean Financial Access Roundtable on Wednesday, April 20 to discuss correspondent banking relationships as well as other matters.
