CONGRESSWOMAN SYLVIA GARCIA ANNOUNCES $10 MILLION IN FEDERAL FUNDING FOR COVID RELIEF IN HARRIS COUNTY

WASHINGTON, DC – Congresswoman Sylvia Garcia (TX-29) announces a total of $10,330,165.90 in federal funding to Harris County for COVID-19 relief.

"I am proud to announce that the U.S. Department of Homeland Security's Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) is awarding federal grants to Harris County, to continue the fight against COVID-19" said Congresswoman Garcia. "Although the state of emergency has ended, COVID has not. Families across Harris County will still be able to benefit from federal government support for continued protective equipment and testing."

The U.S. Department of Homeland Security is granting $1,044,035.89 in federal funding to Harris County for personal protective equipment and $9,286,130.00 in federal funding to Harris County for testing provided under the Robert T. Stafford Act. COVID-19 created an immediate threat to the health and safety of the general public requiring emergency protective measures. Harris County, in response, implemented diagnostic testing for COVID-19 as well as purchased KN-95 protective masks for all public health employees.
