Rep. Sylvia Garcia Applauds The Biden-Harris Administration For Announcing TPS For Venezuelans And Delivering On Promises To Immigrants

WASHINGTON, D.C. - Today, Congresswoman Sylvia Garcia (TX-29) issued the following statement in response to the Biden- Harris administration's announcement that Venezuelans residing in the United States will now qualify for Temporary Protected Status.

"I am thrilled to see that the Biden-Harris administration is once again taking steps to improve the lives of immigrants. I spoke directly to the White House three weeks ago about this issue to ensure that our Venezuelan community members know that we see their struggles and are working hard to provide safety and a higher quality of life. Immigrants leave their homes and come to the United States in pursuit of life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness.

"The Maduro regime may have robbed them of their liberties, but the United States will always stand for freedom and safety. To the tens of thousands of Venezuelan nationals in our Houston region, you can rest assured that you have voices in Washington in Congress and the White House that are committed to fighting for you."
