WASHINGTON, DC – Congresswoman Sylvia Garcia (TX-29) issued a statement commending the Supreme Court's Decision in June Medical Services, LLC v. Russo, a ploy to limit a woman's constitutional right to choose to have an abortion.

"Today's Supreme Court decision is a major win for women across our great country. I applaud the five Supreme Court justices who today rightfully struck down a Louisiana law that would have required doctors at clinics that perform abortions to have admitting privileges at a nearby hospital. The Court held that this law imposed an unconstitutional burden on a woman's right to choose to have an abortion.

This law was similar to one struck down in Texas for its assault on a woman's right to access full reproductive health care, including abortions. This issue was settled in 1973 under Roe v. Wade, and we must continue to preserve the Supreme Court's precedent and fight back against all efforts that seek to strip women of their right to privacy and ultimately their reproductive rights.
