Congresswoman Sylvia Garcia Releases Statement on 75th Anniversary of the D-Day Landings

June 6, 2019

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, Congresswoman Garcia (TX-29) released the following statement in commemoration of the 75th Anniversary of the D-Day Landings in Normandy:

"On this 75th anniversary of D-Day, we are reminded of sacrifice that so many Americans gave on the beaches of Normandy in the fight against tyranny. On that fateful day, June 6, 1944, more than 160,000 Allied troops landed in Western Europe, facing German forces in what proved to be a major turning point in World War II. The landing on the beaches of Normandy laid the foundation for our Allied victory and the end of World War II. Those who served and fought bravely 75 years ago today changed the course of history and the world forever".

"As we express gratitude for our veterans across the United States, let us also remember the ultimate sacrifices made by our Allied brothers and sisters on that fateful day. Our shared struggled forged a real and lasting bond between our nations who fought together on the Normandy coastline, including the United Kingdom, France and Canada, that lives on to this day. For their sacrifices, we are eternally grateful."
